Getting to Know God our Father |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
God the Father is the creator and the sustainer and
the source for everything. He is the Father of all life and he reigns over
and takes care of all things. He looks upon each and every one of us as
his children, and he has only the very best in mind for each of us. He is
our all forgiving heavenly Father who forgives the very moment you ask
him, regardless of how bad or horrible the sin might be. He is all
powerful and all knowing and all loving, in fact it is his unconditional
love that was the motivation for creating us in the beginning, for
sustaining us, for watching over us and guiding us, for sending his Son to
die for our sins, for making eternal life available to all of us, and for
wanting us to spend all eternity with him. And
since God loves you unconditionally with no exceptions, no drawbacks, no
matter what you have done in the past or will do in the future, you can be
sure that he loves you just as you are. In fact, do you realize that since
God has unconditional love for you, he loves you just as much as he loved his Son Jesus. It tells us that many times
in the Bible such as in John
17:23 "I in them and you in me, all being perfected into
one. Then the world will know that you sent me and will understand that
you love them as much as you love me". The
believer knows only to well that anyone can go to the Father and receive
immediate peace and tranquility. He is our strength, our fortress, our
stronghold, our protector and provider. He is always with us and is always
present to help us in any way that he can. When you are in pain, and
hurting and suffering, if you allow him, if you have faith in him and
trust him and focus on him, he will turn those hurtful times into
something good and positive for your life. Our
wonderful Father has a will and a plan for your life. He wants you to know
him, to learn his ways, to get to know him in a personal and intimate way,
and to trust him completely. He wants you to absorb him so that you
understand his ways and principles, to know what he thinks and how he
thinks, what he wants to accomplish in your life and how he wants you to
lead that life. He wants you to know the men and women in the Bible and
see how he worked in their lives. He wants a loving relationship with you
and he wants you to learn about him. The best way to learn about someone
is to spend time with that person, and the way to get to know God is to
take the time to find out about him. And you will soon find out that he is
faithful and true and a very loving friend. Here are some very good ways
to get to know him. Talk To God Talk
to him as you would your very best friend. He is there and is listening.
Be honest and tell him what is on your mind, tell him what you think. Even
though God knows everything about you and about everything going on in
your life, he still wants you to tell him. God does not want to be taken
for granted. So the easiest way to have a really intimate relationship
with God is to simply talk to him. This conversation doesn't have to be
vocal but instead can be non vocal and take place in your mind and your
heart. Listen For God Too Speak To
You Periodically
when it is quiet and there is no TV or radio or other distractions, ask
God to speak to you. He won't speak to you orally. That is not his way.
His conversation will be spirit to spirit. God speaks to a persons heart.
To their mind. To their sense of moral righteousness and fairness. To
their sense of what is right and Godly. He will instill certain ideas and
thoughts into your mind so that when he gets done with his answer, you
will usually know exactly what to do. God is dwelling within a person at
all times, and he is communicating constantly with that person's heart,
conscience, soul, and spirit. And those methods of communication that God
uses are extremely loud and clear. Since
God has unlimited ways to lead you to answers, he may answer you using
other forms of communication. He may lead you to other Godly people for
the answer, he may guide you to the Holy Word of God or other literature
for the answer, he may arrange your future circumstances so that that the
answer becomes very visible, you may even see the answer in another person
who God has brought across your path. The possible ways in which our
Loving Father can answer us is absolutely incredible. If
you are observant and pay attention you will hear him as surely as if he
was standing right in front of you speaking to you verbally. So God wants
you to talk to him and to trust him. In return he will love you and bless
you and teach you. He will show you how you can achieve a life filled with
peace and happiness. Please remember that this life is simply a brief
schooling to discover who this God is that we are going to be spending
eternity with. Read His Word The
Bible is God's instruction booklet to each and every one of us. At first
the reading is difficult but in a very short period of time the reading of
God's Word not only gets easier but soon becomes enjoyable as you increase
your knowledge about every aspect of God. You will find that as you begin
to read and learn a little about God, the Holy Spirit who is the teacher
and the educator, soon enters the picture and instills into the person who
is trying to learn, clarity and understanding as well as a thirst for more
and more knowledge about God. Read And Listen To Messages
About God The
more information that you can read and absorb about your Father the faster
that day will arrive when you want to sincerely become saved and you
become born again. That will be the day that you know that your salvation
is assured and that your eternal life will be spent with Our Father in
paradise. Observe How God Has Acted In The lives Of Others Look
and see how God operates in the lives of your friends, relatives, and
fellow workers. How do the Godly people react to the stresses of life as
compared to the unbelievers. How does God operate in the lives of those
who ask him for help versus those who have no time for God. Look at the
believers of God and notice whether or not their lives are any different
from the lives of unbelievers. Observe How God Has Acted In Your Life Think
about how God may have maneuvered some of the circumstances in your life.
Some of his actions may have been chastisement to get you to stop
committing a particular sin, while other times his actions were rewards
for the times that you acted righteous and you obeyed and pleased him.
Think of the times that he may have very well brought you out of very
difficult and hopeless situations and gave you victory. Think about all
those times when the most unexpected things happened in your life. The
unbeliever will pass them off as just blind luck or fate, but the believer
can see God's handwriting all over them. So think for a moment of all
those times that your heavenly Father was there for you.Psalms 103:11----So
great is his mercy toward them that love him. Believing in God and believing
God are two different things. Believing
in God is saying, I know God exists. Jesus said that even the
demons believe in God. But believing
God is believing everything God has said about himself, about us,
and about the relationship he desires to have with us. And there lies the
importance of believing God. Believing God is to believe that God sent
Jesus to be our savior, to believe that God has made a way for us to be
forgiven of our sinful nature, and to believe that he loved us so much
that he sent his only begotten Son so that we might accept him and have
eternal life with him. God
works in our lives today by calling us to have faith in him and to believe
that he is in charge, that he has a plan and that his plan will be
fulfilled. He asks us to use our faith in him to bring peace to the storms
that occur in our lives. He gives us his word as our confidence, our
assurance, that he is in control. When we are in chaos, many times we lose
sight of hope. We feel we are on the brink of perishing, but when we
remind ourselves that God has a plan, and that he is bringing his plan to
full fruition then we grow in hope. We then have an increased expectancy
that God is in control, and this allows peace to flood our hearts and
minds. Also
keep in mind that God is not interested in us accomplishing great things
for him. What he is interested in is our
personal relationship with him. We cannot serve God until our
hearts are fixed on him, and our hearts cannot be fixed on him until we
begin to surrender to him. God
wants us to acknowledge that we cannot make it on our own. He wants us to
rid ourselves of our prideful attitude. He doesn't want us thinking that
we can save ourselves. We need his life imparted to us in order for us to
live day by day. We didn't create ourselves, and we can't sustain
ourselves. He alone is God and he alone is life. Apart from him we die,
both physically and spiritually. So
if you wish to know the answer to the questions, who is God, or what is he
like, then just look at Jesus. The Father shares the same love and care
for each person that Jesus showed for them during his human life on this
earth. Who is God the Father? He is the one who is eagerly waiting to
throw his arms around you, to comfort you, to lovingly embrace you, to let
you cry on his shoulder, and he is the one who wants to whisper in your
ear, "You're mine, I'll never leave you. Don't worry, in the end it's
going to be all right!" Every
time that Jesus opened blind eyes he declared that God the Father is just
like that. Each time he fed the hungry or raised the dead he was telling
the world that The Father was the exact same way. When Jesus forgave those
who nailed him to the cross he was showing us that the Father also
forgives because the Father is truly a God of love. In the following verse
Jesus himself tells us who really does all those many good things. John
Jesus
was speaking not only about himself but also about God the Father when he
talked about their unconditional love for each and every person. Jesus
said in Hebrews 13:5 I
will never leave you Isaiah 41:10
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not look around, for I am
your God. I will strengthen you. I will really help you. I will really
keep hold of you with my right hand of righteousness." Isaiah 41:13 "For I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand. I am the one saying to you, Do not be afraid. I myself will help you." |
